Ficus elastica or Rubber Tree is native to India and Malaysia. Among the oldest plants used as houseplants worldwide, its large shiny deep burgundy to green leaves provide a most pleasing appearance along with the dash of red on the underside.

This plant can grow large and showy and is quite affordable.

  

 

 

How to care for your Rubber Tree

LIGHT: Moderate to bright indirect light (east, west or south windows).

TEMPERATURE: 60 to 85F. Can tolerate 48 without damage.

WATER: Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely before watering again. Keep in mind that over watering is a common mistake that can permanently damage your plant.

HUMIDITY: Medium to high. 40% or more.

FERTILIZATION: In the growing season, feed them every two or three weeks with a water soluble or liquid fertilizer. In the winter, cut back to once a month, half strength..

COMMON PROBLEMS: Be careful not to over water. The Rubber Tree can be susceptible to root rot.
