Oberer's Delivers Roses for the President

“I give you an A+ for the visual. By DC standards, it was outstanding. You turned a Press Club yawner into a visual feast.....enough b-roll to carry the story between SOTS. Very well done.” - Fox News Network

On June 25, 2003 Oberers Flowers delivered thousands of rose vases to Washington, DC. Bound for President George Bush. Designers in our Dayton, Ohio headquarters, created the vases. Teams of designers worked feverishly round the clock to meet a 5:45am deadline for delivery to The Washington, DC. Press Building.

This project would be one of the largest single jobs required by Oberers Flowers in our 81-year history. The entire staff worked on the project for several days. Glass vases and supplies were pulled from every possible resource. Rose shipments arrived almost hourly and the monumental task of arranging and boxing began before the long journey.

Refrigerated 48ft tractor-trailers as well as Oberers own vehicles and two teams of floral designers were needed to make the nearly 500-mile road trip to Washington from Dayton, OH. The tractor-trailer was packed solid from front to rear with boxes and large lush arrangements. When our teams and the trucks arrived they quickly began the unloading and setting up of the pressroom.

30,000 stems of beautiful red roses lined the press office room where a national press conference took place early Wed. Large lush arrangements gave a grand entrance to the pressroom from the hallway. A 5-foot high rose wall was created to act as the background for the event. Rose columns were constructed at the doorway. A wonderful aroma filled the entire building. It was quite an experience, and all went off without a hitch. Each rose vase contained a card message addressed to the president. Thousands of families from across the United States ordered the roses to show support for President Bush.

The event was a huge success, receiving national news coverage. Our customer, a Florida company had searched high and low to find a Florist willing to take on this huge project. The company was concerned with a shop being able to handle an order that would involve the need for up to 85,000 roses. Washington, DC, shops as well as large nationally known operations turned the group down for logistical concerns. Conversations between Oberers, our customer, The White House and security departments were quickly resolved, and we are happy to report the event was a Star Spangled Success! We have received countless praises for the job from many sources, including some from the national media and are talking with our customer now about the next massive delivery of roses to Washington scheduled for later this summer.
