The Peperomia Plant
Emerald Ripple

(Peperomia caperata)

The peperomia name comes from Greek meaning pepper-like. It is a beautiful succulent plant with rippled dark green foliage that arise from a central crown. The plant does not grow large, only about 8" tall from the top of the pot, making it a perfect fit for anyone's home. It loves bright indirect light and high humidity.

It is planted in our Italian Terra-cotta with its beautiful classical design. The optimum porosity and transpiration these pots offer guarantee the constant, perfect growing environment for your plant, along with perfect water absorption properties and a neutral PH as not to interfere with the soil quality.

How to care for your Peperomia plant

LIGHT: High indirect light (near bright east or south window).

TEMPERATURE: 65 to 85F. Can tolerate 55 without damage.

WATER:This plant likes well drained soil. Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry before watering again. Keep in mind that over watering is a common mistake that can permanently damage your plant.

HUMIDITY: High (40% or more).

FERTILIZATION: Apply every 6 months.

PROPAGATION: Peperomia caperata are propagated by division or by leaf cuttings. Take leaf cuttings with a little bit of stem, dip in rooting hormone, place the leaf and stem in compost, water well and cover with a plastic bag. Remove the plastic bag once in a while to prevent the leaves from rotting. New plants will start from the base of the leaves.

COMMON PROBLEMS: Over watering can cause root rot. This plant does not like sitting in stagnant water.
